India’s Future at Risk: The Need for Ethical Leadership
Mufti Junaid Ahmad Qasmi
India, our country, lies in South Asia and is home to one of the oldest and richest civilizations in the world. It is renowned as the largest democratic republic globally. People here come from diverse backgrounds, religions, castes, and races. They speak different languages, eat various types of food, and yet, they live together in peace and harmony. Our homeland stands as one of the finest examples of unity in diversity in the world.
We all wonder what life was like before India gained independence. Our nation was once subjected to oppression, brutality, and slavery. Today, we cherish our freedom, with everyone aspiring to live in peace and speak freely. Our constitution grants us the fundamental rights to freedom of speech, expression, and the practice of religion according to one’s choice. However, this cherished life would not have been possible without the struggles of our forefathers. They fearlessly devoted themselves to our homeland, and their contributions to the country’s freedom struggle are countless.
Our forefathers not only played a crucial role in India’s independence but also left behind a rich legacy of courage, unwavering resolve, and steadfast devotion to the country. Their sacrifices inspire us to fight against both internal and external enemies of India and its constitution, ensuring we preserve our precious freedom even after their passing.
Unfortunately, some so-called political leaders and opportunists are playing a detrimental role in harming the spirit of the country’s peace and harmony. They have abandoned the ideals and dreams of our forefathers for this beloved nation. Instead of prioritizing the nation’s rights, they put their own interests first. They exploit public rights for personal gain, while ignoring basic issues like education, healthcare, unemployment, and poverty.
During elections, these basic problems receive attention, but once in power, they are quickly neglected. This repeated betrayal of the public trust goes unchecked, as leaders remain indifferent to the suffering of the people.
Instead of fostering unity, they engage in politics based on religion and caste. Following the British “divide and rule” strategy, they divide citizens along religious and caste lines to secure vote banks and maintain political power, rather than promoting national unity and brotherhood.
It is essential, now more than ever, to elect leaders who will protect our homeland from traitors. Their political lives must be governed by truth, morality, and self-purification. These leaders should be free from corrupt politics and possess a constructive vision for the welfare of the masses. They must be committed to preserving our nation’s unity in diversity by respecting the law and order of the land.
Furthermore, our leaders should actively work towards bringing communal harmony, peace , and should exercise wisdom in every aspect of national politics. Political parties must strive to build trust in their leadership through good deeds and come forward to check and stop unlawful activities.
