Jamia Islamia Banjari Witnesses a New Chapter in English Oratory

The first-ever English Elocution Competition of DELL (Diploma in English Language and Literature) students was successfully held on 13th July at Masjid Bilal inside the campus of Jamia Islamia Banjari, Indore, Madhya Pradesh. This event marked a truly tremendous moment in the 42-year legacy of the institution.
The program was presided over by the honorable Principal, Maulana Tasawwur Sahab Falahi, whose presence and guidance inspired the participants. Two distinguished guests graced the occasion and added academic depth to the event. Chief Guest of the program was the teacher of teachers, a bridge builder M. Burhanuddin Sb Qasmi, a renowned Islamic scholar and the Director of Markazul Ma’arif Education and Research Centre (MMERC), Mumbai. He is also the Editor of the Eastern Crescent, a multilingual online magazine. He is considered a leading voice in modern Islamic education.
The Guest of Honor was the craftsman of Intellectual Souls Mufti Jasimuddin Sb Qasmi, a senior lecturer at MMERC with over 15 years of experience. He holds a Master’s degree in English and blends his linguistic expertise with traditional Islamic knowledge. He also serves as the Coordinator of Online Darul Ifta (MMERC), where he provides scholarly guidance and fatwas to the seekers across the globe. He is the compiler of important works such as “Qur’an ka Paighaam” etc.
Maulana Jahangir Sb Azizi anchored the program. The program commenced with the recitation of the Glorious Qur’an by Humayun and its English translation was beautifully presented by M. Noman Sb. A soulful Naat in the praise of Prophet Muhammad (saws) was then recited by Muhammad Anas (UP). This was followed by an informative address by Mufti Shahnawaz Sb Qasmi, who introduced the guests and highlighted the achievements of its alumni.

A total of eight students reached the final stage of the elocution competition. Each of them impressed the audience with their fluency, confidence, and message-driven speeches. The quality of performances was so high that the judges had a tough time selecting the winners. To recognize their efforts, all participants were awarded trophies and cash prizes, presented by the institution, the judges, and the respected guests. Maulana Ataur Rahman, M Ali Murtaza and M Noman Sb. secured first, second and third position respectively.
Judges commended the students’ preparation and public speaking skills. They encouraged the institution to organize more such events in the future to nurture linguistic and leadership abilities. The program concluded with a thoughtful speech by Maulana Tasawwur Sahab Falahi, who expressed heartfelt appreciation for the students, faculty, organizers, and guests. The event ended with a dua, leaving a deep impression on everyone present.
