Five Times, Before The Silence
Five Times, Before The Silence
By: Bushra Firdaus
It begins,
Strumming the strings of my heart.
Underneath,
Rises a tender warmth
Around me,
The restless air goes still.
Beneath,
The sonata’s sovereign will.

My worries,
Once a roaring sea,
Remember,
He is The One who governs me.
My soul,
Adrift amongst the world of many,
Recalls,
There is but One to whom I flee.
Lonely,
In a world gone cold.
Cherished,
By a love worth more than gold.
Lost,
Upon a path unknown.
Guided,
To the One I call my home.

Chasing,
The shimmer of worldly gold.
Unaware,
True success was mine to hold.
Remembering,
How small this world can be.
Knowing,
The Greatest is greater than all I see.
After all,
This heart has come to see,
The One,
The only One—is He.

A blessing,
Once so freely heard.
Now,
Hushed by powers without a word.
Tyranny,
May steal the sound from the skies,
But faith,
In silent defiance, survives.
