Special Report,Deoband
October 27: The General Body Meeting of the All-India Rabita Madaris Islamia Arabia, Darul Uloom Deoband, was held on Tuesday at Jami Rashid, Darul Uloom Deoband, to strengthen the educational and training systems of Islamic seminaries, safeguard their religious identity, and address the educational, administrative and legal challenges they face.
The meeting was presided over by Maulana Mufti Abul Qasim Nomani, Rector and Shaykh al-Hadith of Darul Uloom Deoband and President of Rabita Madaris Islamia.
Rabita Madaris Islamia was established to promote educational and administrative coordination among Islamic seminaries, strengthen the common examination system, and provide a platform for collective consultation on issues confronting these institutions. Its annual meetings review the existing educational and training systems of madaris and deliberate on a reform-oriented course of action in the light of changing circumstances.

Considering the present circumstances and needs of Islamic seminaries, the meeting emphasised improving the standards of education and training, enhancing the teaching skills of teachers, strengthening the intellectual and moral development of students, and making appropriate arrangements for basic modern subjects. It also stressed the importance of sound internal administration, accurate legal documentation, financial transparency, and auditing accounts in accordance with applicable government regulations to ensure effective and transparent institutional management.
Among the approved proposals, particular emphasis was placed on safeguarding students’ faith and beliefs against false ideologies and misguided thoughts, activating the provincial branches of Rabita Madaris Islamia, strengthening its collective examination system, and establishing more maktabs to expand access to religious education. The need to improve the financial conditions of teachers and promote mutual cooperation and unity among Islamic seminaries was also highlighted.

The central message of the meeting was that Islamic seminaries should preserve their religious and educational identity while giving greater attention to the quality of education and training, administrative transparency, and their social responsibilities. Such efforts, it was emphasised, would enable them to guide the younger generation in religious and moral matters more effectively and fulfil their responsibility of serving society in a better manner.
