New Delhi, April 11:
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will launch a nationwide campaign titled ‘Waqf Sudhar Janjagaran Abhiyan’ (Waqf Reform and Public Awareness Campaign) from April 20 to May 5, aimed at informing the public—especially the Muslim community—about the benefits of the recently passed Waqf (Amendment) Act.
The campaign is being undertaken under the directive of BJP national president J.P. Nadda, and will be coordinated by a central team led by BJP national general secretary Radha Mohan Das Agrawal. The team also includes national secretaries Anil Antony and Arvind Menon, along with Jamal Siddiqui, president of the BJP Minority Morcha.
According to a circular issued by BJP general secretary and headquarters in-charge Arjun Singh, the passage of the Waqf (Amendment) Bill and Muslim Waqf (Repeal) Bill in Parliament after comprehensive discussion marks a historic development. He described it as a move towards greater transparency, socio-economic justice, and inclusive growth. “These reforms will particularly benefit Muslim women, the poor, and Pasmanda Muslims who have long remained on the margins,” he said.
The campaign will be conducted in multiple phases:
Town hall meetings will be held at key locations in every State, engaging clergies, lawyers, academicians, artists, doctors, journalists, women activists, and social media influencers from both Muslim and other communities.
Special town halls for women, led by influential female leaders, will be held in State capitals.
Outreach to members of the Christian community is also part of the campaign agenda.
All BJP MPs and MLAs have been instructed to hold at least one awareness meeting in their respective constituencies.
At the district level, meetings with prominent members of the Muslim community and press conferences will be organized to provide detailed briefings.
The BJP Yuva Morcha will conduct youth-focused interactive programmes.
At the sub-district level, the campaign will involve door-to-door outreach in key locations, with special emphasis on Muslim women.
A digital campaign featuring graphics, testimonials, and vox-pop videos will also be launched across all districts.
A national workshop was held on April 10, marking the official initiation of the campaign’s preparatory phase. State and district-level workshops are scheduled between April 15 and 17, with final coordination meetings planned for April 18 and 19.
The BJP leadership has described this campaign as a significant outreach effort to ensure that the Muslim community is well-informed about recent legislative changes and their implications for transparency, equality, and empowerment.
