LONG LIVE JANTAR MANTAR
LONG LIVE JANTAR MANTAR
By: M. Burhanuddin Qasmi
I still recall that warning clear,
When Dr. Singh said, “Disaster” draws near —
Should “he-he” rise to wear the crown,
The nation’s light would tumble down.
For tragedy is not just stone,
Nor shattered streets left all alone;
It lives where honour starts to fray,
Where truth is shelved from day to day.

While ‘Wangchuk’ stands for students’ right,
A lantern steady in the night,
A generation raised in pain
Now learns to speak and breathe again.
Though crushed beneath a ruthless hand,
They find their feet and take a stand;
No iron bars can cage the song,
No tyrant’s shadow lasts too long.
The wounds of Twentieth July ache,
A crimson line no lie can fake.
If force becomes the ruler’s creed,
Then history will judge the deed.

A nation lives on faith and grace,
On young eyes daring danger’s face.
Long live the square where brave hearts stand —
Long live the justice of this land!
