Ashraful Uloom Education and Research Centre in Howrah, West Bengal, Conducted its First Elocution Competition

“On Sunday, 25th August 2024, Ashraful Uloom Education and Research Centre in Howrah, West Bengal, conducted its first elocution competition of the year 2024. It was the final round of the first elocution competition, in which 9 students presented their overwhelming speeches on various important and burning topics that covered all the current issues that are highly needed to be addressed at this time. The students participated with full energy and passion and performed with great enthusiasm. The guest presented in the program highly impressed with the demonstration of the speakers.
The program was moderated by the honorable teacher of the department, Maulana Asad Iqbal Qasmi. The program started with a melodious recitation of the Glorious Quran with English translation. Then, Naat Sharif was recited by a student of the department. And then, English speeches commenced by lucky draw. Every student delivered their speeches in a wonderful manner. The judges gave their remarks, saying it was very tough for them to give marks because every speaker had their own impressive way to deliver speeches. It is amazing that ulama delivered like native speakers; it’s unbelievable, but we cannot deny that. They appreciated the management for establishing such a wonderful department to train ulama with English language skills under Markazul Ma’arif Education & Research Centre, Mumbai.
Thereafter, some of the guests also shared their views; they were also amazed and said it’s really surprising that within a short time, ulama became able to express their ideas and thoughts in the English language – it’s a clear sign of success. Afterwards, Mufti Waseemul Bari, the secretary of Jamiat Ulama Howrah, shared his happiness and expressed his views, saying, ‘You are doing a wonderful job because the world today can be addressed with this language. If you know English, it means you have a tool that can be fitted in each corner of the world, and you have access to communicate with anybody. You are not only learning the English language here, but you are also achieving the magical key to succeed. If you have proficiency in English, you will shine like the sun and the stars in the world. It is necessary to be perfect from all aspects of the language.’ Following him, some prominent teachers of Shalukpara Madrasa Ashraful Uloom shared their views and presented their happiness and congratulated the participants. The prominent director of the department, Maulana Musa Kalimullah Qasmi, gave some valuable and wonderful remarks and suggestions to the students. He added, ‘You are our dream. We want you to be on top of the world. You are here to realize not only your dreams but also the dreams of our forefathers. It’s our responsibility to convey the true message of Islam. And, of course, it is the blessing of Allah that He made the way easy to easiest. Now, the necessary thing is to stand up and respond to this call and make yourselves ready to convey the message of Islam and remove the misconceptions spread about it. I hope you will do it, InShaAllah.’ He also congratulated the teachers of the department and appreciated them for their hard work.
At the end of the program, the director, himself announced the names of the winners. The position holders who got first, second, and third were Maulana Ubeda, Maulana Khalid Iqbal, and Maulana Asif Jamal, respectively. Lastly, the Head of the Department, Maulana Mohd Faizan Nadwi, thanked all the guests, dignitaries, and the teachers and students of the department for making this program beautiful and successful. The program came to an end with the supplication made by the honorable president of the program, Haji Abdul Hameed Saheb.”
