The First-Ever English Elocution Competition at Jamia Islamia Banjari, Indore

The first-ever English Elocution Competition at Jamia Islamia Banjari, Masjid Bilal was held on Thursday dated 02 January 2025. This programme marked a historic moment in the 40-year history of the institution. The competition took place at the Jamia premises in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Maulana Tasawwur Sahab Falahi, the honorable principal of Jamia, presided over the program.

The event featured three distinguished chief guests. The first was Mr. Rubab Mehar, the Director of Mehar Public School. The second was Mr. Tarique Qureshi, a Computer Science graduate, web designer, and graphic designer. He has also worked in the Middle East and led a German healthcare and IT company. Currently, he serves as the Director of Mount Litera Zee School, Mhow, Indore. His passion for education is inspiring. The third chief guest was Dr. Mohammad Bilal Khan. He is the Director and Principal of Desire Academy, Indore, and the Executive Director of All India Human Rights. His dedication to education and human rights is commendable.

Two special guests of honor were also present. Mr. Mohammad Mehmood Khan, the Director of Desire Academy, attended the programme. Mr. Arif Qureshi, a seasoned professional, joined him. Mr. Qureshi has a background in Business Administration (BBA and MBA). With over 20 years of experience in the PP woven industry, he has established a successful business.

Maulana Jahangir Sahab hosted the program. The program began with a recitation of the Glorious Qur’an by Yasir Murwas. Its English translation was beautifully presented by Hanzala Haryana. Maulana Jahangir Sahib then opened the event with a melodious hymn. Abu Huraira added a heartfelt Na’at in praise of Prophet Muhammad (SAWS). Mufti Shahnawaz Sahab introduced the Diploma in English Language and Literature (DELL) course. He explained its two-year curriculum and its activities. He also highlighted the achievements of MMERC graduates.

Ten finalists competed in the elocution contest. Each participant delivered outstanding performance. The judges faced a tough decision. All participants were awarded trophies and monetary prizes by the institution, judges, and guests. Maulana Hanzala, Arhan Bareli and Arbaz Khedawad got first, second and third position respectively. The judges praised the participants and the institution. They encouraged the organizers to hold more such programmes in the future.

The program ended with a speech by Maulana Tasawwur Sahab Falahi. He appreciated the efforts of everyone involved. The programme concluded with a heartfelt dua. It left a lasting impression on all the audience.
