True Celebration of Democracy and Secularism
By: Abdur Rauf Qasmi
In a vibrant democracy like India, the beauty lies in the diversity of voices and the freedom to express solidarity with various causes. Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi’s ‘Jai Palestine’ chant is a reflection of this democratic spirit and our nation’s secular values.
Secularism, a cornerstone of our constitution, ensures that every individual has the right to express their beliefs and support causes they hold dear. Owaisi’s chant aligns with this principle, highlighting the importance of global solidarity and human rights.
Moreover, Owaisi’s style also represents the identity of a Muslim and showcases the Muslim representation in our Parliament. His chant of ‘Jai Palestine’ along with ‘Jai Bheem, Jai Meem’, ‘Jai Telangana’, and ‘Allah Hu Akbar’ is not just a personal expression but a symbol of the diverse cultural and religious fabric of our nation. It underscores the importance of inclusivity and the representation of all communities in our democratic processes.
To those who oppose Owaisi’s chant, it is crucial to remember that the democracy thrives on diverse opinions and mutual respect. In expressing ‘Jai Palestine’, Owaisi is exercising his democratic right and upholding the values of justice and equality that India holds dear.
Let’s celebrate our democratic fabric that allows us to voice support for global causes and remember that secularism means respecting all perspectives and beliefs. Owaisi’s expression of his identity and support for global justice is a testament to the strength and inclusivity of our democracy.
