Experts Opine Following the Completion of Elocution at Markazul Ma’arif, Mumbai

An elocution competition was organized at Markazul Ma’arif Education and Research Center (MMERC), Mumbai, a well-known institution for English language and modern education for Madrasa graduates, established by Maulana Badruddin Ajmal in 1994, in which all Diploma in English Language and Literature (DELL) students of MMERC participated and delivered speeches in English on various topics. The program was presided over by Maulana Atiqur Rehman Qasmi while, among others, Hafiz Iqbal Chonawala was present as the chief guest.
In his presidential address Maulana Atiqur Rahman Qasmi said, “Performances of students were laudable, contents of all speeches and the style of presentations were commendable. Learning English language to convey the universal message of Islam to the mass is a great service.”
The chief guest of the program, Hafiz Iqbal Chonawala, a member of Shura of Darul Uloom Waqf Deoband, said that all the topics chosen by the students for their speeches were very relevant to the current situation in India and the students put forwarded well-reached and authentic information which need to be transmited to common masses.
Mr. Khalil Ahmed Ansari, a retired marine engineer and one of the judges of the elocution, after expressing his happiness on the performance of the students, said, “You should develop such a level of ability and skills in yourselves that you become the need for the world. This ability eliminates the discrimination angel becouse the world runs after its needs.”
The second judge, Mr. Tanzeel Khan, an MBA and Corporate Professional, said in his follow up observation that excellent use of language, proper intonation, eye contact, facial expression and overall gestures and posture – suitable for the content are necessary ingredients to convey effective message to the audience. He further expressed his happiness saying, “I also learnt a lot from this program. You are students here but great scholars for us.”
The third judge of the program was Maulana Muhammad Burhanuddin Qasmi, the Director of Markazul Ma’arif Education and Research Center and Editor of Eastern Crescent, who announced the result of the competition and addressed the students saying, “Your speeches were very good, but always keep trying to improve more and more. There is no end to learning.” He also thanked all the guests of the program and congratulated the teachers and the students for organizing this beautiful program.
It should be noted that every year three English speech competitions are held in Markazul Ma’arif Education and Research, Mumbai, in which all the students participate. The student who gets the highest marks in all the three competitions is selected as the speaker of the year.
Following the preliminary round of the program, a total of nine students (Muhammad Hamza, Muhammad Salman Alam, Muhammad Shamshad, Muhammad Tauqeer, Muhammad Ilyas, Muhammad Osama, Zaheerul Islam, Muhammad Sulia, Muhammad Faisal) were selected for the final round who delivered speeches on different topics. By the unanimous decision of all three judges, Muhammad Salman Alam (Why Islam is the Fastest Growing Religion in the World), Zaheerul Islam (Personality of Prophet Muhammad (saws)) and Muhammad Hamza (Equality and Justice in Islam) won the first, second and third positions respectively. All the finalists were awarded with precious trophies.
The program was started with the recitation of Qari Zubair and Naat of Maulana Jahangir, while it was anchored by Mufti Jaseemuddin Qasmi, the Coordinator of Extra Curricular Activities of MMERC, Mumbai. Senior teacher Maulana Muhammad Aslam Javed Qasmi and Maulana Jameel Ahmad Qasmi assisted in making the program successful. The program came to an end with the Dua of Maulana Mohammad Shahid Qasmi, Imam and Khatib of Masjid Makarzaul Ma’arif.
