It is noteworthy that the Markazul Ma’arif Education and Research Center [MMERC] was established in 1994 by renowned Islamic scholar and philanthropist Maulana Badruddin Ajmal Al-Qasmi. The aim of this institution was to provide graduates of madrasas with quality education in English language and literature along with contemporary communication technologies so that they could effectively preach and address issues in reference to Islam and Muslims for the global mass. Now, thirty years later, graduates of MMERC have resolved to introduce a unique project of Markaz Online Madrasa [MOM] aiming to benefit Muslims from across the world.
Maulana Muhammad Burhanuddin Qasmi, Director of MMERC, explained that this is a five-year course based on the madrasa model, providing high quality Islamic education. The curriculum and instructional language will be English. Individuals over the age of 15, both male and female, with knowledge of English language who couldn’t or cannot attend a madrasa due to various reasons or professional engagement can enroll from any part of the world and complete the ‘Alim’ course from home.
