TAPESTRY OF MY INDIA
~~ M. Burhanuddin Qasmi
In ancient lands
where Indus once did flow,
Civilizations rose,
and wisdom started to grow.
From Vedas’ hymns
to Qur’an’s profound Light,
My India was born,
in spiritual might.
Through Mughal courts
and British colonial sway,
Cultures merged,
and harmony found its way.
From Kashmir’s snow-capped peaks
to Kanyakumari’s shore,
My India stretched,
with love and tolerance in store.
In Assam’s lush green valleys,
where Brahmaputra sings,
My roots were planted,
where love and heritage cling.
Urdu’s gentle poetry,
Hindi’s vibrant beat,
Tamil’s ancient wisdom,
Bengali’s sweet retreat,
All languages India owns,
how can any I disown?
Each dialect a treasure,
a voice I’ve always known.
In vibrant streets of Mumbai,
Bollywood dreams unfold,
In Delhi’s political corridors,
democracy is retold.
From Kerala’s backwaters
to Rajasthan’s royal pride,
Each region sings,
with unique rhythm and stride.

Hindu temples stand tall,
beside masjids’ gentle call,
Sikh gurudwaras shine bright,
and churches echo love for all.
In this land of vibrant cultures,
one spirit beats as one,
My India’s mosaic beauty,
forever shall be sung.
Shun all hate, hug each other,
and strive to make India a peaceful heaven,
Leaders may come and go,
but choose your path —
for India, the noblest leaven.
Eid’s joyful gatherings,
Diwali’s sparkling light,
Holi’s colors dancing, Christmas’s peaceful night.
“Unity in diversity” is the soul
that makes me whole,
Love, equity, and harmony —
my India’s eternal goal.
May peace and love
in every heart be sewn,
In this sacred land
I proudly call my own!
