Muharram: A Month of Blessings, Not Sinful Activities

By: Mohammad Taukir Rahmani

Muharram marks the beginning of the Islamic year, a month imbued with historical significance and abundant divine mercy. This period offers Muslims a unique opportunity to benefit from these blessings. However, many are straying from these divine graces, immersing themselves in heresy and misguided practices, leading them towards disbelief and polytheism.

The younger generation today is alarmingly distant from their faith, often unable to recall even the name of the Prophet or the Kalima. Yet, they meticulously commemorate the tenth of Muharram with practices that cause grief to the soul of Hussain and tarnish the Prophet’s legacy. Replacing Tazia with statue and bowing at graves or seeking wish at shrines has become disturbingly commonplace, as if these actions are not clear transgressions.

These deviations stem from improper guidance and a lack of connection with the teachings of the Prophet and the scholars. Sinful customs are being spread in the name of religion, indicating that the Ummah has lost its way and is unconsciously deviating from its right faith.

For the sake of Allah, it is imperative to turn to the Islamic scholars, visit Khanqahs and Madrasas, and deepen one’s understanding of faith. Practicing the commands of the Quran and integrating the teachings of the Prophet into daily life is crucial. Frequenting mosques and praying for a true understanding of religion is essential.
Let’s repent while there is still time, to avoid becoming entangled in heresy and sinful activities before death comes unexpectedly.
